General Characteristics

Zapcat ($ZAPCAT) is a Solana-based meme coin created in late November 2024. Themed around cat memes, $ZAPCAT emerged as a social experiment to test an idea that superior execution will exhibit long-term success, even in an oversaturated market. As its name implies, Zapcat is a cat that zaps. This is evidenced in the project’s mascot, portraying a cat biting an electrified wire.

$ZAPCAT envisions creating an icon that its community loves and resonates with, moving everyone to interact, engage, and hold the token for the fun of it. Despite its memetic background, the Solana-based project aims to attain mainstream adoption by unlocking diverse utilities within its ecosystem, thus soaring its market value. What an electrifying excitement that will bring to its community!

Roadmap

The Solana-based project has a lineup of three phases in its roadmap. Although it has accomplished some items on the list, it has others to perform. Here’s a breakdown of its roadmap:

Functionality and Utility

$ZAPCAT is the native meme coin for the Zapcat project. It keeps its community engaged through memes. Token holders also benefit from $ZAPCAT’s price volatility. The project’s roadmap reveals that Zapcat has additional utilities in the pipeline, such as an NFT marketplace, an e-commerce platform, and other IRL rewards for token holders.

Market Performance and Dynamics

$ZAPCAT has a total supply of one billion tokens, of which 98% are in circulation. The remaining supply has been burnt and locked. The Solana meme coin has no presales and allocations. It also imposes zero taxes on transactions. These features dismiss the possibility of a potential rugpull and attract investors.

The cat-themed meme token has a market capitalization of $458K, a liquidity of $146K, and a daily traded volume of $32.7K at the time of writing. Its price as of this writing was $0.0004639, representing a mild 4% increase within the past 24 hours.

Community

The Zapcat community comprises community members and token holders across social platforms like X and Telegram.

Pros

7 Questions to Zapcat Team

1) $zapcat was launched as a social experiment in an oversaturated market. What specific insights or hypotheses were you aiming to test with this project?

The simple experiment I decided to undertake was to test if a unique cat meme, under specific conditions, would ultimately lead to "guaranteed" success. The market was definitely reaching oversaturation, but most all "meme projects" were either straight scams and rugged or they showed some potential but eventually were abandoned as teams slowly sold their stakes and allocations; very few showed medium to long-term success.  I set out to try and see if I could socially engineer a meme coin without the potential risks that most tokens inherently possess. There are several challenges to overcome, but one of the primary reasons tokens fail or fall off is founder/team selling.  So I decided to start the project with no desire to make money, just to see if I could get the project to succeed and potentially go viral.

Authenticity also seemed to be lacking amongst meme related projects.  Maybe I'm a purist but very few were really memes; sure some of the original meme coins like Doge started as memes and then evolved into to tokens but very few launches were real memes - they were mostly becoming AI generated art that had generic rhetoric and very spurious communities that only seemed to be interested in the new hot meme.  My contrarian bet was that although at the outset the coin might be limited on upside, eventually through time, commitment to the community, proper liquidity and favorable tokenomics, $zapcat would outperform almost all coins within the same time period.

2) Cat memes are iconic and timeless. Why do you think cat memes have such universal appeal, and how does $zapcat aim to capitalize on this phenomenon?

I think meme coins do best when the idea is easily understood and some combination of cute and funny.  I would argue that cat and dog memes specifically are one of the strongest performing sectors of meme coins.  I didn't spend tons of time deciding on the idea of the meme, half because that was a part of the original theory - could I get any image to work.  I just picked a meme that I thought represented something funny but also had the irony of meme coin trading embedded into the image; most meme coins were painful and detrimental to trade or invest in, so if $zapcat was successful, it would be even more hilarious. The name was also important. $ZAPCAT is easy to understand and remember. At the time of creation, there were no other meme coins that were using the name or concept.  I thought this combined with an evergreen category (cat memes), would be another strong component of potential outperformance.

3) What unique traits or values define the $zapcat community? How do you envision it evolving as the project matures?

We have an amazing community.  I have remarked several times how amazed I am that many of the core holders are very similar to myself, which was great feedback early on; they were all looking for projects they could trust, have limited downside risk, and could believe in long-term.  As a result, almost all of our early core holders have stayed active and involved in the project to this day. It might take a while to translate to large upside price action, but there is so much untapped potential in the fact that myself and so many original holders remain committed to fulfilling the vision of meaningful success.

The evolution of the community is somewhat unknown because if we grow significantly, it will be difficult to maintain the same level of personal connection to each person involved - that's a simple struggle that any small business faces as it grows. It will be a challenge that I will have to figure out the best way to handle as it arises. I've already tried including people in a semi-formal "team" to help with social media but I think it's very important to keep the authenticity that the project started with as a core value, so those trial periods have ended and it is just myself and the $zapcat community. So much of this experiment is betting on the root causes of human behavior and then executing those ideas correctly. I believe that despite our society's increasingly short-term attention span and ability to consume and digest media rapidly, there will always be a desire to find and be involved in projects and business that have the potential to feel unique and authentic without the external threat of predatory tactics.

4) Are there plans to involve the community in developing the $zapcat ecosystem, such as through meme creation contests or governance features?

I am constantly thinking of new ways to involve the community to benefit the project but also bring value as a small reward to those already involved.  One of the things I've been most impressed with is both the variety and the willingness of various members to contribute simply because they like the project and identify with other members and myself.  Many of the members actively make new memes daily, interact on twitter and TikTok; one of our members professionally redesigned our website - all for free. I said earlier how amazed I was to have so many members that just loved the project and connected with me, they simply enjoyed contributing and helping. That's really what it's all about!

As we continue to develop the ecosystem and the website, I would like to find ways to make community rewards and interaction more formal, but I'm also cognizant to maintain the balance of the current community. I have a few loose ideas for IRL rewards and experiences for top holders as we reach certain market cap levels but they are more long-term oriented. But I agree that it's imperative to brainstorm several aspects of community development that will reward and incentivize token holders.

5) The roadmap hints at a potential NFT marketplace. Can you share any details about how this might integrate with the $zapcat brand and meme culture?

I really like the idea of the possibility of $zapcat NFT's, but that will be primarily determined based on how the community and project grow.  I've seen many good meme coins try and do too much, either by trying to attach some utility or fork and in my opinion, only obscurs the idea behind the project. I think it could be a small value add for token holders but it would need to be done in a way that enhances the idea of the original meme and doesn't convolute it. NFT's are more complex and require strategic planning and execution but it would be really fun to create some art in addition to the token, while keeping in mind the vision of increasing the branding of $zapcat.

6) What’s your vision for the e-commerce/merch platform? Will it primarily serve as a revenue stream, a branding tool, or both?

Merch is often the easiest and most natural progression in building any online brand.  Not many meme coins have merch but I think there is a clear path to pursue some basic merch for $zapcat that could increase branding but also strengthen the community.  Any sales would be direct cost only, no profit will be collected, the only goal would be to increase brand awareness and have fun with the project.  There might be an avenue to collect a small profit that could be used to donate to different charities as the brand grows, but for the time being, it's just branding.

7) Where do you see $zapcat in 2 years? How will you ensure it remains relevant and engaging in an ever-evolving crypto space?

Crypto is such a fast-evolving space it's hard to say for sure, but I think $zapcat is perfectly positioned to become something special in the years to come.  The overall market has broken out of a big range and general sentiment is very bullish for the medium to long term. We had great early success that has enabled us to build out the foundation of the project, focus the vision, and strategize effectively which will allow us to grow organically and maintain all of our core values.

I think the biggest differentiation between projects that succeed and projects that fail is commitment; we are committed to the project long term and I believe over the next coming months and years, that will be reflected and ultimately lead to more and more visibility and repricing higher. It will also take flexibility to continuously mold the project to the current landscape of the broader market. This also highlights another huge advantage of the project: there is no large team behind $zapcat. This might sound like a negative, but many teams start out with the same ideas and commitment, only to have differences arise down the road which lead to problems.  We have an amazing community with almost CTO-like engagement, but don't have the risk of several original members or founders having a change of circumstance or vision.  $zapcat had no pre-sale or team allocations, which again, is a huge advantage that will continue to showcase the strength of the project.
